Full Name: Amelia Rose Rizing
Nickname: Most just call her Amelia, but her close friends call her Am when in a hurry.
Age: 12
Date of Birth: September 6th, 1997
Gender: female
Family: Lucky Kay Rizing (mother) - unemployed, but has a stand at the farmer's market.
Appearance:
Amelia has inherited most of her genes from her mother - if you look at the old pictures, she looks almost exactly like her mother when she was 12. There are few differences.
Her appearance tells of a Native American heritage. She has dark brown, wavy hair which she has cut in a bob that falls to her shoulders. Most of the time she wears it in a bandanna or a headband. Sometimes she'll pull it into a ponytail. Her skin is a deep tan, with a few red patches that show her neglected use of sunscreen. She has an athletic, muscular build that shows much enjoyment of sports like soccer and softball. She is short for her age by quite a few inches, and hasn't grown for a long while.
The only thing that she had gotten from her dad, according to her mother, is her bright green eyes. They always seem to have a mischievous glint to them, as if she put a paint can above that door you're about to walk through.
She really doesn't have a 'style', it's mostly just whatever smells clean and doesn't look like an eye-sore. Her wardrobe is made up of jeans, overalls, tee-shirts from various sports, and a few tank tops. She has more pairs of gardening gloves than she does shoes, though.
Personality:
Amelia is very energetic and unpredictable. She's very expressive, and will never hide what she's feeling. She gets curious at times, which gets her into trouble. She talks a lot, but finds herself with few friends. She can never seem to relate with the kids her age.
Despite her hyperness, she loves to read. And read. And read. Especially fantasy and mystery novels. She's not very good at schoolwork, though, and barely passes any of her classes. She really hates people who always ask her for help on their book reports because they always see her reading adult novels.
Her other eccentricity is her love of gardening. She attends to her plants twice a day - watering them, checking them for bad insects, and talking to them. Yes, she talks to them. In her mind, each plant is its own person.
History:
From the time she was old enough to attend daycare, Amelia has spent her day away from home, and then when she got home, was ignored by her mother, who seemed to be deeply involved in some expired bills. She learned to take care of herself, cooking dinner for herself, and shopping herself. She spent as much time away from home as possible; seeing Lucky so depressed made her depressed.
As she got older, she made a deal with her mom, and they began a stand at the local farmer's market selling vegetables they grew themselves. Her mom was able to pay off their debt on the small trailer they owned, and she became more attentive. Amelia still takes care of things around the house, and still prefers to spend time away from home.
The garden which started as a few rows of vegetables now takes up their entire front yard, and Amelia manages the entire thing, instead of helping her mom. Her mom now does all the selling. Their stand is a hit - their vegetables seem to ripen faster and stay in season longer, as well as being more delicious and last longer without expiring. They've tried selling seeds collected at the end of the season, but those who buy them can never seem to wield the same result as Amelia can.
Amelia has kept their stand a secret to her peers, however. She thinks that they'll find her even weirder if they find out that her family's income comes from selling vegetables.
