What the hand The park. Calm. Soothing. Picturesque. Alone. So completely unlike her. Morgan shrugged. Her immediate friends were all cramming for some test or other and she couldn't stand being in the house. Three years and she still didn't feel right. The house was too large, the town too little. There were times she wanted to leap off that balcony and somehow she'd know, just know she'd land safely. For no apparent reason.
She looked up into the greying sky. It was getting dark soon, and the children had long since gone. It was quiet. Too quiet. A secret smile crept onto her face. She felt like she needed to jump up from the bench she was sitting on and scream...something. There was excitement, for some reason, anticipation.
She shook her head as the feeling still ebbed at her, but faded. She was turning into Mordred. Actually, she worried about him. She always worried about him. It was the nature of sisters. She sighed, stretching her arms behind her, narrowly missing a tree, and yawning like a cat. She tried to remember if Mordred had eaten breakfast that day, but the morning's events were a complete blur.
She sat up suddenly, massaging her temples. In the time span of about fifteen seconds, her emotions had channel-hopped from muted excitement to worry to frustration. She always knew this town wouldn't contain her. She had to go somewhere else for college, provided she could last long enough. Before she exploded or something. Because a part of her genuinely believed that could happen.
But of course, that would be ridiculous.

There it was...a lone human sitting innocently on the bench. There couldn't have been anyone else to mistake the signal with, the place was deserted. However...wasn't the fire elementor a male?
Such thoughts lurked around Banfia's mind, unlike Kuan who was having more fun tasting some unripe berries on the bush beside them. : Do Kuan think that girl fire elementor? : Questioned Banfia, being wise enough to use telepathic speech when they were that close to a human that could possibly burn them to ashes.
: Kuan take? : : No, remember Hawkin say, look no fight. : Kuan slowly nodded at this, deciding to lie down while he waited for Hawkins to tell them what to do. Unfortunantly, he managed to put his full weight down on Banfia's tail, and while immune to the mild posion in that tail it still hurt him enough to give a loud hiss of pain before moving off.
"Cretin!" Banfia hissed back, eyeing her tail with one eye while glaring at Kuan with the others. : Cretin, : She repeated, switching back to telepathic speech. : Kuan get Banfia and Kuan roasted! Elementor might hear! :

Puffing, Hawkins slowed to a walk. The two Skimcha had raced ahead, and now he was at the entrance to the park, wondering where to go from here. If he walked down the path, he would be seen, certainly, but there was little cover to get closer. He let his mind wander. If Kuan and Banfia were here, perhaps he could hear them... :Cretin.: Hawkins blustered at the insult, until he realized it was faint, and certainly not directed at him. It was Banfia, berating Kuan, quite a ways ahead. He had no way to talk with them this far out; his "telepathy" only worked up close. He crouched, running as best he could bent over. He saw bushes ahead, an odd stalk pointing out of one. He also saw a redheaded girl on a bench. Keeping the bush between himself and her, he rushed forward. *skimcha*down*hide* he thought, loud as he could.

What the hand... Something tinged on the surface of her skin. Morgan hitched her left shoulder upward, frowning a little. She swept her eyes over the park, but it was empty. A winding path, a few trees, bushes donning dull-colored berries, and several more scattered park benches. Completely empty. Yet why was she still here?
She let out a tentative sigh, then looked up a little suspiciously as if it had been too loud. She could make out the faint shadow of moon, nothing but a sliver. It would be pitch black soon. She really should have been on her way home. But with this thought in mind, Morgan still didn't budge. No, not yet. Wait until the moon solidifies. It was almost like she was bargaining with herself. There was a tiny kernel of discomfort and apprehension in her heart, but as if to prove it wrong, she wanted to stay. Things were rarely this peaceful. At home, the quiet was always a different one, sullen. This was serene.
A thin veil of clouds smothered what was left of that elusive moon. The sky was a lilac, graying palette. The silence should have been her warning.

: Hear Hawkin... : Kuan tilted his head slightly, trying to locate the source of the sound despite it being telepathic. Banfia on the other hand had eyes trained on the young girl, greedily staring at the lone figure.
Kuan nodded once he heard Lt Hawkins command him to stay down low, making sure that this time Banfia's tail was out of the way before lowering himself to the ground. : Girl looks so...vulnerable...Banfia say ambush! : Her green, scaly talon reached out of the bushes, only to be guided back out of sight by Kuan's own talon.
: Must obey Hawkin! : Scolded the larger skim cha, glaring at the smaller Banfia beside him.

*stay!* Hawkins sent, as best he could. He expected this sort of trouble from Kuan, but Banfia, while smarter, was less obedient. He had seen the girl shift and sigh. If she got up, they could track her, find where she lived, how to move her. But with her just sitting there...The thought of a capture was tempting. How pleased would his lord be with an elementor in his grasp? Less than pleased if she should get wind, should slip away and warn the others. No. They would stay, and follow, and report back. There was no way for him to reach the bushes where the Skimcha hid. The closest place with cover was the tree he was currently behind. *skimcha*stay*no*capture*

What the hand... It was a good few minutes later before the apprehension wormed its way deep within her skin. She sat up straight, turning her head this way and that, not entirely sure what she was supposed to be looking for. There was something swelteringly hot inside her that contrasted rather drastically with the cool air of the night. Something unpleasant, foreboding. Biting her lip, she glanced up at the moon again, and the story it told was not reassuring.
Morgan stood up, placing her hands on the wooden planks on the park bench, either side of her. Honestly, she chided herself. Did you expect a monster to jump out at you? She shook her head vigorously, as though that could rid her of the paranoia eating away at her. Obviously she'd let her friends drag her to too many horror movies. It was time to go home.
She paused to brush the hair out of her visal lining, a frown crossing her face. She'd long since given up taming her hair. And then, with an almost light spring forced into her step, she crossed the length of the park for the house, passing by a cluster of bushes as she did so.

"Banfia fight!" It was then that the skimcha chose to leap out of the bushes, instincts too much for Banfia to handle. She sprinted towards the human, but was pulled to the ground by Kuan before she got too close. : Human see us! :
Obviously Kuan hadn't realised that they were out in the open for the girl to gawk at. Still, he practically dragged the smaller skim-cha back to the bushes, this time heading over to Lt Hawkins with an 'aren't you proud of me' expression on his face.

What the hand... The road was in sight and the first street lamps were being lit as the sky darkened. For some inexplicable reason, Morgan let out a sigh of relief. Or maybe she was behaving more rationally than she thought. For as soon as she let out that breath, a hissing voice to her right broke through the night. A few syllables too fierce and hurriedly said to comprehend. She turned sharply to the bushes as two horrible insect-like creatures tumbled out. Her eyes widened in shock.
She stumbled backwards, swallowing a scream and almost lost her balance. These monsters were big, fairly hideous, with a numerous amount of eyes. Normally, Morgan had a bit of pride, and on Halloween, she wouldn't have looked twice at these things. She glanced up at the moon ruefully. But it wasn't Halloween, was it?
There had been a vicious edge to the smaller one's voice, but as they seemed to be retreating more than attacking, Morgan felt herself bristling. Her heartbeat slowing to a steady pace, she stalked after them, head held high (not believing just yet that they would actually be mutant bugs out to kill her.) "Hey!" she yelled, quickening her steps, feeling herself get angrier by the second. Morgan Asphodel did not like being caught off guard.
"Get back here!" She was on the verge of shaking her fist at them, glaring a little hotly, when she saw they seemed to be heading towards a tree. She blinked. Even now, she told herself she needn't be worried. But there was a part of her that wasn't sure.

"No!" Hawkins hissed under his breath. She had seen them! The fool Banfia had let the elementor see them! *Kuan*good*come*Banfia*BAD!* She had seen them. But...she hadn't attacked. Why hadn't the redhead attacked? She had seen them, but... The two Skimcha had reached his hiding place. Restraining the urge to smack the smaller beast, he thought. If she hadn't attacked, perhaps she couldn't attack...and he could capture her. "You two, stay here. Don't attack until I tell you to." *Skimcha*hold*

Banfia lowered her head meekly, Lt Hawkin's control over skimcha having of finally started working on her. Kuan simply watched the girl from behind the bushes, having had enough sense to get out of sight. "Human no attack?" Questioned Kuan, confusion spreading over his face, he had half expected to get a face-ful of fire.
Banfia finally relaxed and simply watched the spot where the girl was thought to be lurking, though soon tensed up upon hearing her start to shout and threaten them. "Elementor no hit Banfia with fire...Banfia think could be trick..."

What the hand... She heard a new voice enter the atmosphere and her step faltered. Just what were these things? And why were they skulking around the park? Shouldn't they be at some obscure costume party? It was becoming increasingly difficult to see them in the dark, but she'd long forgotten how late it must have been. "Human no attack?"
Morgan glared haughtily up at the horrible thing, her hands on her hips. Somehow, her gaze made it seem as though she were looking down at it though it was easily over a foot taller than her. "No," she replied stonily, "but don't try me." She'd always hated bugs. They were so unsanitary, so dim, so useless and disgusting. But this was by far the most baffling thing she'd seen in her life. "What's going on? You'd better have some answers," she warned, "because I don't have any patience for some....science experiment gone awry." Her finish was rather anti-climatic but she could feel a building annoyance rising, smothering any fear.
Elementor? What? She turned sharply to face Banfia, a frown evidently etched on her face. "And what are you babbling about?" she snapped. She blew a strand of hair out of her face and folded her arms crossly by her chest. Petulance softened and gave way to confusion. "What are you anyway?" She stared at a spot between them by a tree trunk, not wanting to meet their numerous unnaturally eerie eyes. Inwardly, she groaned. I should have stayed at home.

"Aw....ry?" Kuan starred cluelessly at Morgan, he certainly had no idea what the word meant, and wasn't about to try and figure it out.
"No awry Science Ex...Ex...Extraperiment (Experiment) ...Kuan and Banfia good creation...international (Intentional)." While Banfia did have a unusually larger vocabulary for a Skim-Cha, it was clear that she did indeed make mistakes when she spoke.
"Human no attack...yet no scared of Banfia and Kuan... Banfia think that human not human at all. Banfia think Lt Hawkins should kidnip human.

Hawkins stood, getting a good look at the girl. The two were right, she hadn't attacked... "Miss, I would ask that you come with us. It is very important for your safety." If she would come willingly, or at the very least without attacking, Sin-Ark would be pleased enough to forget that the two Skimcha had talked to the human. *Kuan*Banfia*silent*ready* he added mentally.

What the hand... Her impatience for dimwitted roaches with a limited understanding of the English language slowly shadowed her fear. "I don't care if you're international or domestic!" she informed the skimcha, producing a rigid finger and shaking it at the much taller creature. Something told Morgan this thing was a girl - did insects even have genders? She was just about to ask where they came from, or perhaps run far, far away, when Banfia said something else that stopped her in her tracks.
Positively alarmed, Morgan took a step back. "Wait, what?" she asked, her expression wild - again, terror and outrage battled in her heart. "Did you just say kidnap? No. No, no, no, no, no, I don't know what - " She was on the verge of hyperventilating, and she absolutely hated losing her cool. Gulping deep breaths of air, she cut herself off and attempted to remain calm.
When the newcomer crept out from seemingly out of nowhere, Morgan had to resist the urge to take yet another step backwards. "You...are human, aren't you?" she asked hesitantly, a spark of curiosity in the back of her eyes. "Who are you? Wait, how long have you been here?" She bit her lip. Her safety? She curled her lips into a sardonic smile. Somehow, the presence of a creature actually within the realms of her imagination soothed her - but whoever this was, she still didn't trust him.
"Sorry," she said with a false simper, re-crossing her arms. "My mother always told me not to talk to strangers. Let alone follow them home." Just how stupid did he think she was? It occurred to her now though that overall, she had kept rather calm, all things considered. And she had no reason to be, really. Another spurt of worry surged through her veins.

"I am Lieutenant Hawkins, and for your safety, you should follow me." He took a step forward, confident that the Elementor did not have her power. "There are...dangerous things," he added, creativity failing. "You need to come with me." *Elementor*notgo*Skimcha*attack*

The two skimcha snickered slightly, for some reason they both found that Morgan's calmer-then-expected attitude tickled their funny bone. The two muttered to each other as she spoke to Lt Hawkins, only pausing to listen to what he had to say to them about Morgan.
: Yes...Kuan attack human... : Replied the male skim-cha, Banfia simply nodding in reply to Lt Hawkin's request. The two started to edge to either side of the elementor, one of the few 'sneak attacks' Kuan could perform without too much hassle. As Hawkins had said, if he ordered an attack, they would do so.

What the hand... Morgan eyed the lieutenant appraisingly. Dangerous things, she scoffed. More dangerous than these life-sized Goosebumps rejects? She spared the pair another icy glance, now murmuring to themselves about some tedious thing or other. She turned back to Hawkins, an extremely ungrateful look crossing her face.
Her rational mind possibly abandoning her, she allowed herself four more words. "I don't think so."

A growl issued from Kuan, who was by now standing to the left of her. As Lt Hawkins had said, if she didn't come, it was time to attack.
Without hesitation, the oddly-coloured skim-cha darted forward with a suprisingly large amount of speed, claw raised and aiming for the girl's head. However, Banfia chose to do the same at that moment, though while her's was turned to knock out the girl rather then claw her head, Kuan's wasn't.
They missed the girl and ended up colliding with each-other. A massive shriek of pain issued from Banfia as she turned to face Kuan, who was now growling at her instead. With an equal amount of speed shown before, the two were circling around each other and apparently punching the air. This was the 'Battle Dance' they called it, when skim-cha would show off their skill to the other in hopes of frightening it away before a fight started.

"No!" Stupid creatures! *Stop*no*fight* Hawkins ran towards the pair and the girl. With any luck, he could grab her before she ran. Although odds were she'd run away from the screaming skim-cha, and make his job easier (for once this blasted night).
